Placement Student Attendance Monitoring

In view of changes to UK government legislation regarding visa conditions for overseas students administered by the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), Oxford Brookes University has had to introduce monitoring procedures for International students, which includes international students on placement as part of their university degree.

As the sponsors of visas for international students we are obliged to report to the UKVI any international students who are not attending their programme for more than 10 working days, which in this context means unauthorised non-attendance at their placement workplace. We are asking all employers to monitor this situation on our behalf.

To ensure consistency and in the interest of best practice, the university suggests that employers agree to reporting absences for all placement students, not just those on Student visa.
